We are proud to announce the results of our Dec 2017 Executive Board election. Madi Scott (sophomore, Chemistry) will serve as our President, and Oscar Galdamez (freshman, Physics) will be our new Vice President. (The Secretary/Treasurer position remains vacant at this time, and Sacnistas interested in the position should email Prof. Prell.) We welcome our new leaders and look forward to a productive and exciting remainder of the school year for SACNAS!

UO SACNAS members attend 2017 SACNAS National Diversity in STEM Conference

14 UO Sacnistas attended this year’s SACNAS National Conference in Salt Lake City, UT. The conference included undergraduate poster presentations, graduate research talks, discussion panels, and an amazing program of keynote speakers (including Nobel Prize winner Mario Capecchi, U Utah; former White House Senior Policy Advisor Knatokie Ford; and UC Berkeley Professor of Integrative Biology Tyrone Hayes). Everyone learned a lot, made many new connections across the country, and fun was had by all.

UO researchers Gino Carrillo (McMorran Group, Physics) and Isabella Young (Prell Group, Chemistry) won poster awards–congratulations to both of them!!!

Check out some snapshots from the conference below (more to come as we collect them):
